Sydney has always struggled to keep their scene afloat. Between the ridiculous government lockouts, pokie machines, and punter apathy, the Harbour City has never quite been able to get it together.
But there's one thing it's never struggled with, and that's an overabundance of top notch world class bands, and in this humble reviewers opinion, there's one band that towers at the peak. That band is FANGZ.
Their latest EP, 'But No Thanks' is testament to that. A balls out, take no prisoners, sucker punch to the face, 'But No Thanks' has exactly what you want from a punk rock release…...grit, fun, danger, attitude, catchy choruses, and hooks for days!
The entire EP is a rock solid offering that peels your eye-lids back with a gutsy scream-a-thon vocal performance from Canadian vocalist Josh Cottreau, a pounding no holds barred smash fest from rhythm section Jameel Majam (Bass) & Steve "Woodie" Woodward (Drums), and an hellacious guitar overload from Samuel Sheumack.
If punk rock anthems scratch you where you itch, then 'But No Thanks' is exactly what the doctor ordered. Every song does it's very best to hold your attention, from opening track 'Drifter', current single 'Victims', and EP closer 'Who Are We Now'.
But the stand out track is without question 'Falling Out', which has a chorus so infectious that'll be buzzing around your head for days after hearing it!
