Sydney's Yours Truly have gathered together an impressive list of material since their formation in 2016, beginning with their first EP, 'Too Late For Apologies' (2017), and all they way to their critically acclaimed EP from 2019, 'Afterglow'.
But, their debut full-length album 'Self Care' is, without question, the pinnacle of their accomplishments so far.
With just the right balance of bitter and sweet, 'Self Care' is a beautifully crafted pop / punk LP, with the perfect amount of grit to complement the catchy hooks and sing along choruses. This album is the delivery on the promise of what this band was always capable of, with 10 songs full of both heartbreak and joy!
Lead vocalist, Mikaila Delgado gives a soaring and commanding vocal performance that's reminiscent of Taylor Hanson (Hanson / Tinted Windows), with the rest of the group (Teddie Winder-Haron / Guitar, Lachlan Cronin / Guitar, & Brad Cronan / Drums) propelling 'Self Care' to one of the best pop / punk releases of the year.
The album kicks off with 'Siamese Souls', but it's the following one-two punch of singles 'Composure' & 'Together' that really lets the listener know that they're in for something very special here.
The production on 'Self Care' is nothing short of outstanding, bringing a sonic punch to proceedings that never outstays it's welcome.
There isn't a single dud track on 'Self Care' (I doubt this band is capable of writing a bad song), and with the average age of the band members being 21, Yours Truly have what could be a very successful road ahead of them, and may very well be the Australian beacon that guides the world back to rock n roll!
